Sir,
The decision of our government to increase reservation of jobs and seats in government to backward people is not based on any philanthropic criteria but merely to win banks of votes. Such reservation of people irrespective of merit and caliber will mean a government by half-witted, inefficient persons.
It is wise to restrict reservation to seats in education up to school and college level, but not to institutions of specialisation and in civil services. In the latter, only merit should be the criteria.
