We all know when we are supposed to write a thank-you letter, but too often we delay the writing so long that it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure.

Although there is no hard-and-fast rule that you must acknowledge birthday greetings or letters of congratulations, it is a gracious and charming gesture and one that attests to your good upbringing. In writing this kind of letter, always mention the gift or the occasion that prompts it.
