Subject: Disadvantages of not excluding the use of loudspeakers
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to oppose the decision of the Government of not excluding the use of loudspeakers for religious purposes.
The use of loudspeakers for religious purposes has already shown alarming effects, as there are no restrictions from the supporting organizations. Loudspeakers at certain religious places are silent only for a few hours after midnight but they start thundering out early in the morning.
Loudspeakers and bands used in marriages, processions and festivals cause much strain to people as this noise is in addition to the daily noise of horns from vehicular traffic. The authorities have registered 100 decibels of sound at peak hours. Life has become horrible because of noise and air pollution. This decision of the Government will give uncontrolled freedom to the users of loudspeakers for religious purposes.
Human feelings must be given priority to the religious sentiments of people. Keeping the above-mentioned things in view, I appeal to the Government to review its decision and limit the level of sound at which the loudspeakers can be used for religious purposes.
Thanking you.
Yours faithfully,
